Budlight and coors light are my go to beers, If I want to be a little fancy I get the new budweiser black crown. It knocks the socks off of bud light platinum. But one of my favorite dark beers has to be shiner bock

Guiness by any means is my choice, and if you can find it on tap its even better, the Humming bird in Macon GA has it, and Tilted Kilt in Atlanta, It is also the Main ingredient in an Irish car bomb. However if your being "cheap", get two cans of Dog bite from enmark "Orange 24 oz can with a dog with three heads on it" Tastes ten times better than the black steel reserve can or Ice house edge, yet just as strong. As the two cans of dog bite is also 8%, so don't plan on driving after drinking them. its like drinking an 8 pack of bud light lime, but without the bloated stomach.

I highly recommend this. But make sure you have plenty of time to browse around. My first trip I stayed in there a couple hours. So much to see.
Always good to try something knew. But found out I absolutely hate good beer. Tried it all, but gas station varieties are way more appealing.

back in my college days it was old style in a bar bottle or dortmunder union light(cold) or dark(room temp)
Maybe you don't like beer flavor? That's fine, but light beers fill a niche--some people don't like a flavorful brew.
I had a Bud Light at a cook out over the summer, and there was almost no perceptible taste. Kind of like Perrier with a the .01 oz remnants from the good IPA I had last night poured in. It was tough to believe people could actually like something with so little to like. The American beer industry did a great job convincing men that it was manly to drink Light beers through billions of dollars in advertising and marketing. During prohibition, weak beer was the norm...you just had to live with it. It wasn't anything like the Beligian, English and German style beers that were popular previously. We are still suffering from the effects of prohibition. Just look how hard they have to push to get people to continue buying their "beer".
I just wanted to endorse the make your own 6-pack idea. In my area, both Publix and Kroger do this. Just fill one up with things that you've never tried and accept the fact that some of them you may not like. But until you try them you don't know. Also, keep a list - and if your into smartphones - there's an app for that. It's interesting, after a while to look at the list of things you like and see if there's a common factor; they're mostly lagers, or IPAs, light, dark, etc. It's like anything else, you can get as involved in it as you want to. I'm into dark stouts (Guinness, et. al.) myself.
