What happened to Bushmaster?

The Bushmaster I had wouldn't run the aluminum mags. And the old Colt wouldn't run the P Mags.........

Never had a maintained Colt not run a P-mag. They don't drop free in some but the function well.

Aluminum magazines have always been hit or miss with me. Wear, tear, and followers make the difference.

On the P Mag it wouldn't feed the 4th round. They were new mags. The others were military surplus mags. Never had a problem with them. I wanted to use the surplus mags in the Bushmaster, just didn't work. I don't remember what the deal was. P Mag ran great in the Bushmaster

I was answering the OP question not commenting on yours but...

There is no Pre Wyndham Bushmaster. There is Post Wyndham as in New York and Alabama made Bushmasters amd Nevada.

A 1980's Bushmaster I wish I never let go of...

But I do still have my restricted roll mark Bushmaster:

But 2011 is when Bushmaster moved out of Maine. And 2004 was the end of the AWB / Restricted Roll mark AR, so it you could have a 2004.

Freedom Group did go out of business in 2021 but a Nevada based company bought BM and they have produced firearms since. Not sure on quality though.

The Wyndham Weaponry rifles have been great at their price point but just get over showed by either cheaper guns or more recognizable brands, unfortunately.
It says made in Windham Maine but I don't know who was what and when and where and all that. I'm not a big historian when it comes to gun manufacturers. I just love tinkering, modifying and building my own.

This is one of two shelf AR's I own and it's the best one out of the two. I just know I love this rifle and I wouldn't want to give it up for anything if I didn't have to. You can just tell by charging the weapon and handling it that it's a well-made gun. The fit and finish is a lot better than the newer bushmasters I've shot and looked over. I just wish I could find another one just like this one.

I thought I was lucky to get this one. It was right after Sandy Hook and my best friend owned it and it had never been shot. You couldn't get an AR off the shelf if you had $10,000 in your hand at that point. I mean they were none on the shelves. He agreed to sell it to me and I scooped it up. I got it, a carry case, 3 or 4 mags and 100 rounds of ammo for under $800 at the time. At that point in time it was a great deal. Seems kinda silly now but back then it was like hitting the lottery.

Yea, I saw an A3 Colt sell for $3500 at a show. And it sold pretty fast too

I've never had any problems out of the GI mags or the P mags but the cheaper Hex mags and ones like that they don't work with a darn.

I have the same old Colt my father gave me in the ‘80s ….. it’s in like new condition and I love it !!
No forward assist or anything, just plain ole Colt goodness ! Collapsible stock.
