What happened to the turkey shoots?

Didn't do it regularly, but won a couple of birds with a Beretta 390 and some custom trap chokes,

Always checked that everyone was shooting out of the same box of shells,

I went to one many many years ago, where there was a "trapper" behind a barricade that threw 4" plywood blocks in the air, and closest to shot to the center won, Only shoot I know of that was conducted like that. Think the intent was to eliminate any supposed advantage of the "long toms"

If they threw them up on edge spinning the same each time, that'd seem fair and random.

Bump. It's y been a few years and I am in the mood to go to a turkey shoot.

But I have not seen any signs up at the local VFW post-- I know they closed their shooting range over a year ago but I thought perhaps they might still shoot shotguns there on special occasions where there is a range officer making sure that only small birdshot is used. And when the point of the shoot is a fundraiser to benefit the VFW itself or its members or causes that are near and dear to their hearts.

DOES ANYBODY KNOW OF PLACES THAT WILL HOLD A "TURKEY SHOOT" in the Fall of 2025?

Post 'em up.

Hermet said in post #1, several years ago:

"Used to be this time of year turkey shoots where being put on everywhere. Churchs, civic groups and VFW's always had them but these days they seem to be few and far between."

I AGREE. They disappeared during the COVID-19 years and I haven't seen
any re-emerge since then.

I found 2.

Roopville is a heck of a long way from me but I do have a friend that lives out that way near Newnan and Lagrange,

so maybe I'll spend half of the day with him and or get him to come out to the turkey shoot also.
