DO have a Contender barrel with a long throat, find seating bullets farther out
gets rid of light strikes. Will see what happens, friend has shot other makers ammo
and doesnt seem to have problem.
I had light strikes with my Super 14 Contender barrel in .35 Rem. Those barrels are pretty finicky in regard to case sizing and shoulder set back. If your die sizes the shoulder too far back you will get light strikes.
Another technique with the Contender/Encore is the Bellm method. Go to the range with a finicky barrel that you've removed the extractor from. Fire a few rounds. When you get home take the barrel out of the frame. Still without the extractor, drop the first case in the chamber. Theoretically the case will stick out just a tiny bit above the barrel. Slowly turn the die down until the cartridge is flush with the barrel. Lock the dies and have at it.
My .45 Colt die set arrived today. I sized the 50 that I fired on Saturday, and belled those, oblong with the 152 new Starline that I bought. All 152 were primed with Federal 150 primers and are ready to load. I also have 100 fired brass that I ordered from Mojo Brass that are in route.
Working on a few rounds for my father’s old revolvers. 150 .32 S&W Long cases ready to load. When I go home for Thanksgiving I’ll bring him these and a couple hundred each of 9mm and .38 Spl.
Have a setup; but haven't loaded any range ammo yet. I think I have the LNL AP figured out now and have ran some dummy ammo without primers or powder. Have a buddy coming over to help me with the first rounds in a few days. I have been polishing brass in the tumbler in advance. I picked up another 25# of walnut at Harbor Freight of $32. And before someone asks, I do have all the components to load up a couple cases of 9mm; just not the knowledge yet.
