What is the deal with the "infractions" on here?

Being an ass to other members will do nothing to stabilize the market, it'll just run off new members and get us the reputation of being a bunch of assholes over here.

TRUE. There are enough assholes gunning for us (pun intended). We are where we are now because we can't, won't or don't stick together. Also, I know you are the founder and I appreciate that, but it's pretty hypocritical for someone with your viewpoint on the "rules" to have that Avatar.

There are a LOT of people who disagree with me on some things here. There are quite a few who agree with me on most things here. On this privately owned site, we are afforded the opportunity to do a ton of things which aren't censored or regulated. What we choose to do here is up to us for the most part. There are a few rules. They aren't hidden. They aren't difficult to understand. They aren't changing all the time. They are simple, specific, and helpful rules that allow us to buy/sell/trade freely and discuss things in a polite and civilized manner. People come here because there is sage wisdom, interesting conversation, various viewpoints and knowledge levels, and a bunch of good people enjoying the experience this site which OS has given us brings for each of us. To complain about the few simple rules which are set here, or fail to follow them, is quite frankly a bit childish and immature in my opinion.

It's completely possible that someone might "overpay" for something because of what they saw here. I don't blame the people, the prices, or this site for that. I blame their unpreparedness, their lack of knowledge, or their failure to do their own due diligence when choosing to buy something for the price or prices asked. If their failure(s) means they don't stick around or harbor ill-will to this site and this community then they are not a person who I care to associate with and I have no issue with them leaving here to never return. I would rather deal with, and associate with, people who recognize their own failure(s) and use the resources available to them to avoid such failure(s) in the first place or take responsibility for their mistakes.

The problem seems to come back to one thing...People think the Bill of Rights applies here. This is private property. If you want to exercise your right to free speech, find a srteet corner. And good luck not getting locked up unless you pay for a permit to speek freely THERE. This is the house that Steve built. He owns it and lets us come visit to meet and chat and deal with each other. But you don't go into someone elses home and piss in his sink and then be surprised when there are some sort of consequenses for it.

And if a damn infraction hurts your itty bitty feelings sooooo bad, maybe you shouldn't be armed in the real world. More like boy in a pastic bubble pampered, y'know? Hell, Bossman already went to great lengths to make sure the first notice of rules violation is termed a "Friendly reminder" as it is. Talk about a buncha mamby pambies. We oughtta issue tissues with every warning.

Yep, I've been doing this too. But only on the ones that are blatantly outrageous, ie. first post listing items at close to twice the CURRENT rate.

Amazing how many people think that the 1st amendment gives them rights that don't exist. Here's a quick lesson in Constitutional Law 101. The Bill Of Rights was created to protect the PEOPLE from infringement by THE GOVERNMENT. Now, unless Okuma Steve has been elected Grand Poobah Of Georgia or something, he is still a private individual, and this site is a privately owned entity. You do not have rights here, other than the right to leave.
