I recently tested 6 different loads shooting 100 yards from a prone position with my fore-end rested across my gear bag with a 3X scope on my AR rifle.
I had cheap ammo like Wolf and Tula, I had Monarch and Privi partisan ammo.
For the good stuff, federal American Eagle ammo and Hornady ammo.
Results were that there wasn't much difference between them.
The best groups from the crappy ammo were almost as good as the best groups from the good ammo, but the good ammo seemed to be more consistent.
The worst groups from the bad ammo were definitely much larger than the "worst groups" from the quality brass cased ammo.
I only fired a few groups from each box of ammo. I may want to re-create this test again in the future shooting at least 4 five- round groups at 100, and another set of five groups fired at 200 yards, and this time with sandbags under my gun- not a nylon range bag filled with assorted junk.
