What kind of critter digs 3 inch holes 3 inches deep? Armadillos?

yea I see then run over as far N as Cartersville , when in my 20.s I only saw them S of say ? Macon or Columbus GA .
I have a live trap at my other house. I’m going to set it up along the fence
