What long guns are so iconic that everyone should own one?

AR15 and/or AK47
M1a/M14 and/or M1 Garand.

I have had all of these at some point but in my effort to catch all the Pokemon's I have had to let some go. I dont necessarily agree that everyone should have all the above since I dont but I would say everyone should have:

M1 Garand.
1911 Preferably USGI but they are all cool.
A lever action rifle.
A Colt or copy of the iconic Single Action Army.

I’d take this in a slightly different direction, and instead of proposing particular guns, I would propose that every American family/adult male should have:

1) a rimfire for pest control/to learn on
2) something to put dinner on the table
3) something for individual/household defense
4) something to go to battle with

Obviously there’s going to be overlap, and room for specialization. But we should think in these terms.

Plenty of threads about this already. Iconic is what I'm looking for.
