I don't understand why you just said that.
I don't really either as its not my preference. I am not a "metal head" but have listed to metal for a long time a genre of many I enjoy depending on my mood. The screaming isn't my thing and I cant understand most of what she is saying. Its powerful. That said when I type that I realize Im old and maybe that's why.
It's the same reason they use distortion on guitars. It's the defining characteristic of the genre. Some people like it some don't. Different people find beauty in different art forms, that's why they exist.
You don't have to understand what she's saying to enjoy the music, just as you don't understand what the guitars are saying because they aren't speaking - they're singing. Music and lyrics are two different things, think of poetry and instrumental music. That said, she enunciates very well and I can understand what she says - not so with a lot of other singers. It also helps to have good headphones/speakers.
Here are the lyrics to the song, they actually go with the music. If you listen you can hear the "clean parts" sound watery and the "distorted parts" sound like fire so to speak. Very good band

Cool oh I definitely respect the art. That lady is awesome at what she does and like I said raw harnessed power in her voice. I have even shown a few of my coworkers who asked what I was listening to. I agree often time lyrics are not important to enjoy music as a whole. Sometimes you can complicate things overthinking. Its like my Pappy would say sometimes catching fish can ruin a good fishing trip. You just get caught up enjoying the moment

If any of you metalheads ever get a chance to see Heilung live, definitely do it. I saw them last time they were in Atlanta and it was amazing- so much better than watching videos. The Ancient Nordic rhythm touches something deep down inside
