What was your worst buy? The one that just didn't live up to the MFR hype?

sig p226 Navy...Chipped the frame where slide rides on the frame after 20 rounds or so using standard federal 9mm FMJ...WTF Sig! Brand spanking new. Sent it back, they sent me brand new one, sold it within 2 days for more than i paid for. Anything Glock...good grief, quite possibly most overrated pistol on the planet. Remington 870, recent production, what a piece of ****! Yet family member has an older one and its a champ. Guess Remington has really went down the toilet.

What are Glocks rated these days?

I have a remington 870 that had a rough chamber. It would not extract fired shells without mortering it on the ground. Sent it back to remington for repairs and they did not fix the issue. I decided to polish the chamber myself and I fixed it. But a shotgun leaving the factory that does not work is absolutely unacceptable, and even worse is that I sent it back and they did not correct the issue. It makes me question the quality control of the other parts.

I really don't know....I had four, now have three. I like them but none are Gen 4 or Gen 5. I never really thought they needed all the grip changeout adjustment stuff.... the only thing I can say about them is if you limp wrist (one of mine) them they will stovepipe....but that's a user problem IMO.

Number One with a bullet has to be my Desert Tech MDR in 308. Bought it as soon as it came out because it was so cool, but it couldn't make it through a single magazine without jamming. I tried 5-6 different commercial ammos and a bunch of milsurp, and it all caused jams.

They sent out a new gas piston that supposedly fixed this, but no luck on my rifle, and the same for a lot of folks on a bullpup forum I'm on. Finally gave up and sent it back to them (on my dime). They had it for 2 months before I finally got word they had fixed it, and sent me a YT video link of it shooting through a full mag of Hirtenberger.

To be fair, they really did fix it. It runs any ammo I've tried after they got all the redesigned parts into it. But those early units were just beta tests and should never have gone out the door.

And even with the fixes it's still too gassy to use with a can. You end up with black soot all over your face and neck from the leaks in the stock that fill with gassing since the action is fully enclosed in it (ask me how I know). Since I bought a bullpup specifically to use with a can, this is still an issue with me.

Number Two is a Gemtech MIST-22 integrally suppressed barrel for a Ruger 10/22. It actually works great, but if you don't clean it after a few boxes of ammo it welds shut so badly I couldn't get it broken free with a wrench after soaking it in every concoction ODT-ers gave me to try. There's a whole thread on it here, and I ended up having to send it back to them to break free.

I don't know what it is about the design, but this suppressor welds up solid faster than any 22 can I've ever dealt with. It did it to me again last Fall when I forgot to break the shroud free right after shooting 200 rounds or so through it, even with anti-seize on the threads (something they recommended last time). Just a terrible design and again, one that should never have made it out onto the market as it is.
