What were your favorite songs as a kid?

I was born in 1951, so my music goes back much farther than most of you. I grew up in a house where music was played and enjoyed. So, I guess the earliest memory of music in my youth was the songs sung at church, Just as I am, is one I remember from really early in my life.
I also remember the William Tell Overture, but I just called it the "Lone Ranger" song. The Ballad of New Orleans was a favorite playing in the house as was my dad's favorite song, Sixteen Tons, by Tennessee Ernie Ford. Later on Ray Price, Marty Robbins, Patsy Cline, Elvis Presley, Sam and Dave, Pat Boone, The Temptations, Johnny Rivers.....etc, etc..that was the music being played at my house when I was a kid. BTW, the first album I purchased was Whipped Cream and Other Delights by Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass.
Hey, I had that album. I played the trumpet in the band. Liked the cover better than the vinyl. Nekked girl covered in whipped cream

The first record I "bought" (my momma actually bought it for me). A silly little song? Yes, but hey I was a kid.
From Dick Clarks "American Bandstand". My sister (7yrs. older than me) watched this show pretty much every day after school.
Fond memories. A simpler time.

I guess my being a kid was extended through my teenage years. Music was constantly evolving as was my taste, every once in a while I'll go back to listen to something I used to absolutely love and it just doesn't really have the punch that it used to if it was after 1970...
