No, silicone will not hurt the finish, but it will make it greasy. Buy some Prolix, and use it to clean the finish. It is safe for use on nickel finish guns. Once it has been cleaned, wipe it down until it is dry, then use some Renaissance Wax to protect the finish. It is not greasy and really makes the nickel shine. Well....at least that is what I do.

Prolix, is a good product, but it is not carried by many stores, at least in my area. I try to find "free shipping" deals on the internet and purchase Prolix, Renaissance Wax and Flitz at the same time.
