Seriously, that shooting proved you don't have to have a $900 pistol to defend your life.

Since they still have the pistol it also proves that you carry something you except not to get back. Just like a "truck gun" if it gets stolen, lost, or seized that you won't "miss it". Don't carry your grandpa's 45 from WW2. For me, it's a G19. It's just a gun, nothing special, but I trust my life with it.

If you have regular man sized hands- Glock 19
if you have prepubescent girl sized hands- Glock 26/27

Our special forces cannot be wrong; HK or Sig in 45 caliber. I also feel that it is hard to train for a true life and death situation; when that adrenaline is pumping there is no guarantee I could spell my name much less click off the safety, aim, shoot, and hit something besides a barn. So given the testing the government puts HK and Sig through, I say your odds are better to survive a true poop hits the fan situation with one of those brands as your side arm. My opinion and a nickle will get you some bubble gum so do not cuss me too bad guys.

If you are already good with a 45, why not stick with it and carry an XDS. It is a good shooter, super small and very comfortable to carry. No brainer...
