I see them alot but what were the intended use for them especially Ak pistols was looking at a m92 pap an a Kel TEC plr16 an just don't see the point except for a range gun.

The point of a rifle + the point of pistol = bridge gapped
I’ve been slowly converting mine back to full size rifles mostly because of the property we’ll have and the home we’ll be building. Most of it is pretty open so no need for short stuff.
With that said, living where we are now I see the need for shorter barrels. We’re living with my in-laws until our house is done and their house is fairly small and chopped up so a full length gun simply doesn’t work. My 12.5” is a little long but works fine.

Actually I have still have no idea what's the point of buying 1 again unless you have a brace or stock not very accurate

Reduce your OAL, especially if running a can, without purchasing another stamp. And freedom of travel between states without more paperwork like with an SBR.

An AR or AK pistol with a 30-round mag represents a lot of firepower for close range defense, such as in and around your home or shooting from in, or around, your vehicle when you're traveling.
Think of it as a PDW-- personal defense weapon. Not a rifle or carbine.
And PDW is concealable. Maybe not in a holster on your waistband, but usually carried in a gym bag, backpack, attaché case, briefcase. Or under a trenchcoat. Whatever.
