What's your best "accidental good shot"

Several years ago, shooting my S&W 629. I hit an old rearview mirror laying on a hill side.. we measured it off at 90 yards. I should have played the lottery that day

Shooting a red Ryder BB gun when I was six trying to hit a dove on a power line 20th shot or so it fell eye and side of head shot through. Never hit another one till dad upgraded me to pellet rifle.

When I was 6 or 7 my best friend and I got into some sort of disagreement. We both stomped off in different directions towards home. For some idiotic reason, I picked up a rock and threw it at him. He was way too far off for me to have him him. Well, it hit him directly on top of his head. He let out a horrific yell and chased me home. He caught me and proceeded to kick the ever loving snot out of me.

We still laugh about it frequently.

At Thanksgiving last year, a few of us were talking shooting when I mentioned how accurate my old 40x was. My uncle (the type who always has a bigger story) said, I bet you couldn't hit the knot in that tree," as he pointed to about a quarter size knot on a tree about 25 yards away. I grabbed the ol gal out of the closet, cleaned the cobb webs off the iron sights, and took my shot... standing, offhand, slung. Pew... Dead center! All I heard was "lucky, chance, etc.," so I took another shot. "Ha! You missed," said my uncle. I told him that he'd better check the tree. I wish I had a picture of the look on his face when he dug the second bullet out of that hole.

One year my wife decided she wanted to bag the next deer with my 220 Swift bench rifle. This big doe sticks her head out of the trees, and my wife gets the shakes like she was looking at a record buck. When she squeezed the trigger, she also flinched like a little kid... Perfect vertebrae shot! To this day, only she and I (and you all) know the truth about that shot.

100 yrds iron sights MAS 36 converted to .308 one shot

Same day also hit a nickle at 25 yrds first shot with the 1911 and first shot bullseye'd a 25 yrd target that my buddy had been minute of man'ing with his .380

I hit a duck right between the wings at 30 yards... with a rock. It didn't kill it, but it laid it out.

It was a very caveman moment.

It laid there for about 5 minutes, then flew away.

Mine was with my father. We had just gotten ahold of some reactive targets and took them out to the range. Not only that but we had just gotten a new rifle and slapped a scope on it. Not bore sighted or anything. We set up at 100 to shoot. Figuring it was way off I aimed way right the target barely in view and took one shot. BOOM! Wood chips rained down in all directions.
Probably one of my best shots all things considered.

If only I could do that all the time.

Not my story but true.My Great Aunt was making lunch for my Uncle and two Cousins that were about to get home from deer hunting all morning.
She goes out to the screened in back deck only to see good sized spike in her garden. She grabs the .22 my Uncle keeps by the back door to scare off
critters and shoots one time to scare off the deer. The deer drops in his tracks.A short while later the "Hunters" get home with no deer.As they are processing the
spike they find that my Aunt shot it in the head. She still says thats the best deer meat she ever ate.
