Completely relevant to the purpose of the rifle. The one I jog through the woods with is a lot shorter and lighter than the one I shoot from a bench.

But I guess a 11.5-14.5" with a 3-9x scope if I had to run out the door with only one...

I've had a couple of CAR-15's and M4 type carbines over the years.
Right now, my interest in AR pattern rifles is to use them for longer range target shooting and CMP / NRA high power rifle competition.
So I'll take the 20 inch barrel models with a full length fixed buttstock, please.

That is the ugliest rifle I've ever seen. The 70's called and want their **** back.

I shoot 6.8spc so velocity and energy really don't matter. It's just one of those round that really don't respond to barrel length. I have three and out the three I would have to say the 18 inch with the souped up buffer system is a jewel to shoot. That being said if I had to grab one for crap hit the fan senario I would have to grab my 16 inch. It's a 14.7 inch barrel with a short brake that brings it right in at 16.1. hated to pin and weld it but doze are da rulz.
