american market different.Yeah, surely. I just don't understand why they want all of that extra weight? The McLaren MP4-12C is a 3.8 liter tt Volvo engine cranking out 618hp. Better fuel economy, and less weight to haul around.
Laufen, the viper is modern day american muscle; and american muscle has always been about a rather large engine.
If you threw a single/twin turbo into the viper it would push much more than 618hp.
Another aspect you're over looking that the 8.4L engine produces that those other two cars don't is the torque. (Torque being another standout feature of American muscle).
The 8.4L naturally aspirated engine makes 600+ lb. torque, while the mclaren, even twin turboed, makes considerably less.
Plus, if you're buying a car that costs THAT much, who really cares about getting 10mpg as opposed to 20?
I'm no tree-hugger by any means and I don't think you are either. haha
What I don't understand is how are they only getting 640 hp from 8.4liters? That must be an incredibly inefficient engine.
