When did you/do you plan to take SS?

I maxed out in December 66+4 started drawing ss last month. Still working my full time job of 40 years. Hopefully I can retire the end of April. Pipeline work is tough on an old man.

If I'm still alive and if its still paying out then the first day I'm eligible however I have not factored it into needing it to retire.

Retired at 59 started SSI at 62. Medicare at 65.

if I have to retire in order to collect it, probably never. Otherwise, I'll try as soon as eligible. I plan on working till I die but I don't want to leave anything to the corrupt government!

I will take it as soon as I am 62. I may die at 62 and 1 month but at least I will get 1 check.

I'm thinking I'll take it at 62 just because of the unknowns. That's 3 years. I have a 401k and an IRA but I will find a side gig and keep working. Retiring and sitting on your butt is a good way to hasten your exit.

Took my SS is at 62, had a Company profit-sharing plan and 401. Only had to get them 40 years of my life.
