When I was a boy dad told us not to walk down to the
service station at the nearby major hwy because we
had to walk passed a big truck place and he was afraid
a driver may not be able to see small children. So one
day i walked down there to get some candy. Crossed to
opposite side when passing the truck place figured that
be safe enough. After getting the candy looked out and
saw dad's car at the pumps. Said to myself "ohboy now
don't have to walk home I'll catch a ride w/him." Ran out
to greet him, he said "sure you can ride home w/me".
When we got home he sat me on the porch. Asked if I
remembered him telling us not to walk down to the station.
"yes sir". Do you remember why? "yes sir, don't want us walking
passed the trucks". But you did it anyway? "yes sir".
He then confiscated the candy, crumbled up the candy cigarettes,
threw it all away. Then turned me over to warm my backside.
Did explain that was for disobeying his order, if I can't remember
the danger from the trucks then maybe I can remember the spanking.
Thought to myself " damn, no candy and a spanking. That didn't go as
planned".
