When is a cord of wood not a cord?

I built a trailer box with removable sides to sell true cords of wood. Every single sale resulted in the customer saying they had never seen that much wood at one time. They all were repeat customers after that.

I cord of wood is an exact amount that is measurable. Where I have ran into discrepancies in the past is people selling a rick of wood, which people seem to measure all sorts of ways.

Some times you see a rick of wood that is half a cord, other times it is 1/3 of a cord.

How much is a cord goin for in Pike Co.?

Paid $220 delivered.

I did clarify before they arrived that I expected the cord to be 4x4x8...

In any event, I now have enough to get me through the first half of the coming winter which was my primary concern. There are three huge oaks down on some family land that I'll be cutting up shortly to get me through the second half of this winter and into next year.

Seems like every time I buy a cord.

Why can't sellers be honest and provide a full cord? Every time I stack it after it's delivered they're short by 10% to 25%...

And I don't think I'm being over meticulous in stacking it as tight as I can, just put one piece on the stack so it doesn't fall over then move on to the next.

In case anybody's wondering, it wasn't any wood sellers on here. You guys are all too far away to make delivery economical.

Reminds me of how they fill a bag of chips full of air..... With like 10 actual chips rattling around at the bottom.

Wait-

Did you say "Rick" of wood?

When we lived in the bigger house at the end of the road we had a fireplace. I burned a lot of old palates. The bust up easy and burn good. But what you do NOT want to throw in the fireplace no matter how cold it is or even if the power is off is bamboo poles. Trust me if you aint already done this. It stinks like hell and each section pops like a shotgun shell.
