Yes, pretty close though a backdraught is caused by a sudden inflow of air to a super heated smouldering fire, like when you open a door in a burning building. Rule one for firefighters is check the door handle for heat and don’t stand in front of the door if you decide to open it.Like a backdraft in a housefire.
