So the next upgrade for my AR is goin to be a railed free float hand guard. I'm not lookin to hang a bunch of crap on it...just want to throw a bipod on the front. What are my options? Don't mind spending the money to get a good one, but don't want to spend more than I have too.

Thanks for any input.

I free floated one of mine but I didn't use a rail handguard. I used a knurled aluminum free floated handguard with a Sling Swivel attachment on the bottom. I then used a sling-swivel bi-pod. If you are sure you won't be using lasers, flashlights, etc, then you might want to save some money and go that route...

Hey didnt think about that. Yeah, good thinking. I'll check into it.

Which one did you go with?

I got mine from Model1sales.com but they have the exact one I bought at http://mapartsinc.com/productsDetail.asp?id=681

Model1Sales.com has some ventilated ones at http://model1sales.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=448

You might need to drill a hole and mount your own sling swivel screw. Some come with them. Some don't... Here are a few photos of what my long distance AR looked like with it before I removed the sling mount from the gas block and installed one on the free float tube instead.
