Whitetail neck shot?

If the shot is under 50 yards or I have a good prop I always go for the neck.
I’ll either aim right in the middle or where the neck meets the shoulder just depends on what kind of shot I have.
Confidence is key as previously stated if you’re off you’ll either miss it all together or not hurt it enough to ruin it’s quality of life.
I’d rather miss one clean than take an iffy shot and wound one.

I have a great 3 pics of a deer that I took last year with a neck shot. Sometimes I look at them on my Mac in succession, kinda like the way the old cartoons were first made long ago. I still can't believe a trail cam took them that fast, but they show the deer walk in, get shot and drop, and then die, like bam, bam, bam. Here they are, look at them fast in sucession and you'l see what I mean.

The last 7 deer I have shot have been middle of the base of the neck shots with Winchester Power Points or Federal Fusion Tipped. I put muzzle brakes on all of my rifles and they recoil like .223 . I have a 50 yard zero on my 7.62 x 39 and a 25 yard zero on my .308. All of the deer dropped upon impact. You have the spinal cord vertebrae , wind pipe , throat , carotid artery in the neck and a soft point bullet is going to hit one of them.

Lots of people swear by the neck shot. That's fine. I'm overwhelmingly lucky with the heart lung shot. Go right between the ribs and back out. No lost meat. Lungs and heart, jelly. I've learned some extra hydrostatic shock helps too. Extra velocity round........

That seems like it's backwards. You should have a 50-yard dope on your 308 and a 25-yard dope on your 7.62 for 39 or you know something I don't. Please expand on the thought process here?
