Who can weld/repair a knife for me?

If welded properly, and heat treated, it should be as strong as if it were one piece. The heat treating is the problem, but I know a guy….you can see the sheer lack of penetration on original weld.
 
Shoot me a pic of the other side, put together like you did…
I had to remove the other scale. But once I did that for the pic you requested, now I see why it was weak...

Why don't you just by yourself a nice cleaver for Christmas? Should be some good black Friday deals soon.
Possibly. But this was $100 which is about as much as I would want to spend on a rarely used kitchen knife. Rarely bc I don't often need a small chopper.

I don't want to spend another $100 and encounter the same thing. I'd rather spend the money and get this one repaired bc I will know what the inside of this one looks like and hopefully it's strong enough to not break again.
