Who has done this and over what gun?

I have both the Glock and 1911 versions although mine are the old ones from when they used to be marketed through Wilson combat. I don't believe I have had a frame in either of them in almost ten years. I just couldn't figure out what the hell to do with them. Of course I don't care for pistol caliber carbines so I guess it makes sense.

As related to your question, yes, I do it all the time. Sometimes I lose interest before I spend a bunch of money, but most times it is after I have acquired the gun, extra mags, new sights, grips, and a couple thousand rounds of ammo for it.

I do it so often that I pretty much have stopped selling any ammo even if I don't currently own a gun in that caliber.
So what you're saying is you may hook op up?

If you ever want to shoot the 10mm Mechtech, I have one and I'm in Marietta. :) I had a 10mm AR-15 too, but I sold it.

Not quite as elaborate or expensive, but I did it with the Diamondback DB9. Tried to get my hands on one for months. Finally found one at a steal. Brought it home took it to the range and fired it. The slide drove a wedge of flesh out of the web of my hand about an inch long. Took pics of it at the range and listed it in the car on the way home.

Often the planning and suspense is far better than the gun even if you end up loving it. I only buy a tenth of what I get excited about but it keeps you going between purchases. It's called dreaming and I wouldn't give it up for the world!

I got an AR pistol beating the inside of my head to death right now. But I have a tight fisted wallet holding me back. The more I look at the price pistol barrels and pistol uppers the less I want to do it. I keep seeing this awesome cool AR pistol with a free float handguard, flip up sights and a cheaper holosight with the full length BCG and buffer so I can use my 22LR conversion kit in it. Sweet! Then I start pricing parts.... Bleh.
