I see a lot of you guys deer hunt but do you hunt waterfowl? I never have and really wanting to get into it. I don’t know anything about it. Does anyone have any advice or pointers on where to go? Are WMA’s any good? I’d appreciate any advice. Thank you!

You think deer hunters are serious?! Ha! Waterfowlers take things to a new level! Not likely to get much feedback on where the birds are as it is too hard to find them and get access. Best chance is to burn fuel and try to find them if you don’t have a really good friend to introduce you to the game. If you do find birds on public land, plan on camping on the spot or someone will be sitting in it come morning. On the plus side, it is one of the most fun things you can do with your pants on when it works out! I’ll take ducks over deer most any day. Maybe others will have more helpful advice, good luck getting started!

I do. Been going for almost 30 years. I just take waders and walk out to the bay. Beautiful mornings.

Waterfowl is on my bucket list
Mine too! I have wanting to do it for a long time but just never found anyone with all the equipment. Plus it will give me incentive to buy a nice semi 12 gauge. Wood and blued steel like the good old days. Not one of this bogus synthetic jobs.

Just think of the cost of getting yourself set up for duck hunting. Boat, motor and all the equipment to get that going and the trailer. Then the blind to erect on the boat. Plus a good trained dog to fetch the ducks. Let's not forget decoys. The expense is overwhelming. Now if I could find someone to go with I would spend coin for a new gun, shells and some waterproof camo wear. That's still a lot to spend on just the first hunt. Most duck hunters have their own besties to hunt with. That's why it's so hard to find someone willing to take you out.

You're thinking way too far ahead. Get a guide to take you a few times. Sure it'll cost some, but far cheaper than buying all that gear. On the shotgun, having a gun that shoots well is far better than having a purdy gun to look at. If you're really hunting, the gun is just a tool. You won't have time to look at it. Besides, I have all the pricey stuff. A good set of waders might be in order

Hmm, the FED man will be tapping you on the shoulder directly.....
This will happen if you waterfowl hunt. I been ambushed by undercover feds just a few miles from here in Alpharetta even. Stay legal, it really disappoints. Previous post about camping on public ducks? I can relate lol. We are a dedicated bunch.
