Who Won the Civil War?

Hermet......you hit that nail RIGHT on the head. Dumb down the sheep, lead them to slaughter.

I HATE the term "civil war". There was no United States "civil war" between 1861 and 1865. A civil war, by definition, is a war between 2 factions for control of a whole country. The VietNam War was a civil war, because both the North and South wanted ultimate control over the whole of the country. The Confederacy just wanted to leave the United States and establish its own rule over its own territory.

If you look at early history, pre-1860, of the USA, this concept was entirely consistent with the founding principles....a government formed by the cooperative union of independent sovereign states, any of which could leave the union at any time whenever it wanted. Just like any other arrangement between separate parties.
