Donald Thomas Sholtz from BOSTON was among the best ever. He also did all of the instruments on his albums cuts. He was also the primary songwriter.
He also was the inventor of the Rock Man. It was the size of the Walk Man and you hooked your electric guitar to it and it gave the sound of that distortion associated with the metal guitar sound. You walked around with it hooked to your belt and rocked out.
He truly was the most gifted and intelligent musician of our time.

Cannot forget Brian Setzer and Robert Cray
Before Prince died, some reporter asked Eric Clapton how it feels to be the best guitar player in the world, and he said: "I don't know, why don't you go ask Prince?" LOL...pretty high praise.
Love Kenny Wayne Shepherds stuff from the 90s. I saw him in concert years ago and it was great

Prince did an awesome episode of VH1 Story Tellers where he actually dressed normally, and proceeded to rip the strings off of an acoustic guitar....
He played every studio track on every Prince, and Morris Day album, and every other group he started(bordering on obsessive control), and had an extremely prolific career as a producer. He was a music aficionado.
