Why did leupold stop making pistol scopes?

I got a Burris for my Thompson center contender 357. Glass is pretty nice but I miss my leupolds. When I was 18 I hunted with a 9 1/2 inch Ruger Super Redhawk 44 magnum with a 4 power leupold. Loved that gun. Hitting bullseye at 100 yards with 300 grain bullets I reloaded was a joy. Get the sun behind you and you can watch that behemoth to the target.
I've heard a lot of good things about Burris. The older ones anyway. I've never owned one. But I would give them a try sometime. An older one that is

I used to deer hunt in SE Ohio with a Thompson Contender Super 14 handgun in .375 Winchester, topped with a Burris PosiLock 2.5x pistol scope. Furthest I’ve ever shot a deer in Ohio was with that rig; 120yds.
Nice! 375 Win a pretty good round? NM I looked it up. Very nice!

I like it for whitetail in Ohio. You have to use a straight-walled cartridge up there. Nowadays I use a Ruger No. 3 and a Marlin lever-action, both in .375 Winchester.

very few people are putting scopes on pistols anymore
A startup optics company named "BoomFudd" might do well in this declining segment.....

......for a little while.....

....until their customer base goes the way of the double edge cartridge razor crowd.

Maybe I need to sell mine. I only use mine (Contender in .30 Herret and .44 mag Redhawk) for close in woods hunting. Handgun scopes aren't practical for that type hunting IMO. You have to have the gun aligned just right and arms fully extended for a full field of view which often requires extra movement generally exactly when you don't want it, when the animal is close.
Much prefer my red dots. I'm not shooting at distances requiring magnification.
