Why do people feel compelled to tell us why the are selling a firearm?

I say something like that so I don't have to bring up the bent barrel thing.

I would not bring up my bent barrel either in a deal. If your barrel is bent, you may need to consult a physician. Just sayin'...do you ever have accidental discharges in public? Empty chamber? All can be handled by a physician.

Or use the "children" for an excuse when WTB.

I WTB a 22 rifle for my kid.
Am I supposed to give you a special deal, because it's for the children? Pity Party?

I raised mine and expect everybody else to do the same, if they turn out ****ty, it'll be your fault not mine.

Ireally don't care why they are selling, but they should disclose any abnormalities and malfunctions.

Could also be a hint for partial trade

i've always had a back story for what I trade. its part of the experience. you don't like it? to bad! Im soon to be selling my f250 here. You dont want to know that I dont need the freakin power that thing has anymore. If jr. doesn't wreck it, its soon to be listed, but I wont say why Im trading.:car:

When people (some of y'all) list things for sale, why tell me why you are selling it??? "Putting towards another project", "Buying a house", "Unexpected bills", "Paying off bookie", "Need to have 3rd nipple removed", etc. Is this supposed to make me want to buy it more? Just not sure why the time and effort is put in, unless, psychologically, it is a cry for attention or sympathy - which then we can put it in the general forum and start a 'go fund me'!

I am half kidding... maybe 53%, but there is a side of me that really would like to know.
Any of you have a thought?
I think it's meant to reassure you that there's nothing wrong with the gun or that it's not because the gun sucks.
FS/FT Useless Crap POS, I'm financially solvent, but this thing is only dangerous if you drop it on your foot. This is the model with the Jams-every-other-round feature, super RARE. Only 100 rounds through it because I had to field strip the pistol after each round to get it to feed the next.
Price: MSRP+$100
Just doesn't have the same pizazz, somehow...
