This relates to the AITAH thread just below. I read through a lot of those. Everyone involved in those is at fault, usually. The lack of responsibility and sense of entitlement people feel is off the charts nowadays. I blame overly attentive parents and liberal run public education.
My parents didn't know where I was most of the time. I started school before Jimmy Carter began his career of unintentional evil with the Department of Education. Things have changed! Kids today learn to evade responsibility in the face of condemnation by omnipresent parental figures and are told over and over the world wants and supports them. If you inform a teenager that, other than immediate family and dearest friends, nobody cares about them or what they think, they can't comprehend it.
