Why live in Detroit?

I cannot wrap my head around the idea that anyone would willingly want to live in Detroit....

50% of the population cannot read or write.

I was just there in March...as long as you stay north of 11 Mile (just outside the city limits) it's a nice place full of good people. I met a member of another forum and we went to a local range, then went downtown. It wasn't too bad down there and I felt pretty safe....with 11 guns in the van that is

Really, what is the difference between Detroit and some 3rd world marxist rathole-like Cuba? About half the population is illiterate and they pull stupid stuff like this and setting the city on fire each Halloween for kicks....

-I wonder if we could just go ahead and kick that craphole town out of the U.S. Clearly, there is nothing left worth saving.
