I've been saying 30 ft for years, only to be laughed at. I teach my family that 30 is too close for someone suspicious, cross the street if needed.

On a side note, Inosanto is pretty skilled with a blade and other methods.
Yo Martial Arts Very Good! Still practice even though I am old ha. Can be just as slow to deploy a blade as a gun. Better to know some blocks and try to create space and time to deploy your weapon. Situational awareness #1 weapon. Attacker always has the advantage, you will usually not have the benefit of 15-20 feet.

We watched this during sharp objects training during POST. Several guys still believed they could do better than the 21 feet.
After the hands on drill. They thought very different. Everyone got stabbed at 15 feet or less. Always keep this in your head guys. It might save your life one day.
