What am I seeing here? Is that a rat snake eating a copperhead?

I always called them king snakes. I may be wrong though

Are they able to kill the poisonous snake because the venom doesn't hurt them?

I'm from Maine, we don't have any poisonous snake indigenous to Maine.

King snakes (in GA) have stripes. The Eastern King snake is black with white stripes perpendicular to Its spine. Rat snakes are black with a white belly and white speckles (generally speaking)

Lot's of reasons why you shouldn't kill ratsnakes. But a speckled kingsnake (L.g. Holbrooki)eating a copperhead...probably not one of them.

Very cool photo. I've seen some awesome photos of king snakes taking out poisonous snakes.
