Windshield repair question

I jumped in my car last night to go get a half gallon of mayfields delicious ice cream, only to find my windshield has a 12" inch crack extending from a rock chip. I found a small rock down at the bottom of my windshield and I guess thats the culprit. I was looking around online and it looks like I could get this fixed, or so some folks claim. Anyone have any experience with these types of fixes?

If the crack exceeds the length of a 1 dollar bill placed in the center point, then you need the windshield replaced. If it is less in length it is possible to get it repaired!!

Replace it, don't even think of fixing it.

I was afraid that might be the answer. Well in that case well see how long it takes for it to spider out and then I'll be getting a new one

Just be careful driving with a damaged windshield... if it gets hit by anything big it could give way. That would be terrible at highway speeds.
