Working out

i'm no fitness guru, but for the last couple years i've been pretty much health conscious. mountain biking and road cycling are my favorite past time when i'm not in the "Barn Of Pain" where i house a smith machine and some bowflex dumbbells. i hear ya about not being able to eat right. In my current situation i pretty much stick to chicken, veggies, skim milk, and some kashi heart to heart ceral. I'm a firm believer in protein shakes with whey and casin, (which you can use for meal replacements) and the supplements to follow. stick with the healthy snacks like veggie sticks if you're stuck in the truck all day. for the first time ever, i entered a contest on bodybuilding.com and i'm following this routine: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/shortcut-to-size.html take a look at the active rest days. he has you doing intervals which fall under HIT. i'm not a runner, and i hate running, but once a year i have to run a mile and a half to keep my job. these intervals work to your advantage. i agree with Stolen... more than an hr in the gym is a waste of time, and the Navy vet is correct about moving... and lastly, since you live in Smyrna, get a descent road bike and hit The Silver Comet. it's in your backyard, and I would ride that like crazy. just my .02 in all this, but stick with it.

Just watch your cholesterol man. Your immune system will suffer will large amounts of animal protein,a nd minimal vegetables as well. It's your body, but weight is only a small component of overall health.

If you're referring to high cholesterol from animal fats, that is far from the truth. You're either born that way or not (prone to high cholesterol). Animal fats/proteins don't cause high cholesterol . . . if that's what you're talking about. Total myth.

I stick to beer 30 minutes before pretty much anything, and 10 minutes after. Seems to do the trick. An added side effect is it really makes average women hot.
Keep up the good work!

I mentioned this thread to a friend of mine who is a personal trainer, and very in touch with nutrition. She directed me to research the Paleo Diet... it's more of lifestyle instead of a diet. Think of the changes you make as nutritional steps to eating better ALL THE TIME, rather than something you do for a couple weeks or months to meet a goal.

Anyway, check out this info... http://unitedbarbell.com/dox/30 Day Paleo Challenge Packet.pdf

Well, wrong. I lowered my cholesterol siginificantly by consuming foods with less of it in the food. It doesn't materialize from nothing, you need to put it into your mouth.

I've lost 70 pounds and counting on a version of the Paleo. BP is down too. I'm getting in touch with my inner caveman.
