Would you rather have 5 shots or 16 shots?

I was a long time J frame carryer but events in the last few years have caused me to reevaluate. With time and experience I have learned how to get away with carrying bigger and bigger sidearms. I now consider a comander size 1911 "easy carry" and can winter carry a double stack. Addressing the original question I like the auto for capacity and quick reloads only dif is i will give up a few in mag to "make mine a .45".

I'd say whichever one you're quickest to aim and fire and hit pretty accurate with is your best shot. Too many times everyone wants more bullets but can't hit a target 10' in front of them. I see people at the range shooting handguns at 15-20 yards away and can't hit anything when usually your threat is within a 10' radius. So, if you plug your target in the largest part of the body with a .357 or 9mm, like my grandpa always said, "You'll only need 2 shots, 1 to put 'em down and 1 to finish 'em off". So if you're good with the Smith, 5 shots is more than enough. I'd keep the 9mm close by in case he decides to bring more people to the party but once you plug one, I think the message would be send loud and bloody clear.

Just my $.02
