I am helping a widow get rid of her husbands guns. He has a military issued savage 720 variable choke built in, browning citori ‘87 28in barrel invector choke system 20ga, 30-06 bar ‘89, 7mm abolt ‘85 with ammo for each gun. I was wondering about values as the savage I was only able to find on e posting from bass pro in Nebraska for $1599. Mine is in excellent condition bore looks brand new on the guns as the guy had health issues for awhile before he died

My dad was a WWII fighter pilot. He, and the gunners who were part of bomber crews, had to get training on busting clays with shotguns as part of learning to lead a moving target.
Dad said that some of the guns were pumps, but he got to use a semi-auto 12 gauge that had a choke affixed on the exterior of the muzzle. He was told that the semis kicked less than the pump guns, but after 1 day of training his shoulder was badly bruised (like so many Depression-era young men, he entered the service rather skinny. Something like only 140 lbs. on his 5' 9" frame.)

There isn’t a bayonet lug on the 720 as they were used to for pilot to shot at other things learning to lead like we do with clay now. There are the 4 **** on the bottom of the barrel under the pa marks. Which means full choke

Does anyone know the value of the S&W “new century” triple lock .44 special single action revolver which based on the serial number it would be on the younger side of things. I have seen ones online that are high4, a couple 5 figures which of course were in great shape. But, I am trying to find a value for it to help out the old lady whose husband got it passed down the line. Thanks

This one sold a few months back for 900 in a lot better condition. To bring the high prices you would need a lot better finish. I sold a triple lock myself in about the same condition as your example about 6 months ago for 700 at auction. Id guess 500ish for a quick sale and maybe more if no hurry.

It has a twist adjustable chock on the end. I assume the consensus on the s&w .44 special new century/ triple lock is a little over $500. As I want to help the lady, but I also want to help people acquire old guns they want as well.

Those savages normally go for a lot less than $1500, but I'm not surprised that bass pro had something priced that high. Also I'm pretty sure the adjustable choke was added on by someone later. I don't think they had those when they used them for training.
