S&W M&P10 and all the loaded mags I can carry. Any caliber with less power is a waste of time. A handgun is a waste of carry capacity. Anything much bigger would reduce capacity too much. No time for loading mags.

Range, power and capacity... .308 in an AR platform. M&P for lightest weight AR in .308 I've handled.
