You get pulled over by a LEO. You have your firearm on you or in your car. Would you show him your Drivers License along with your GWL? Or would you simply just show him your drivers license and not say squat about you having a firearm in your car only if the officer asks you?

I never told an officer not unless he asks but never gotten to that extreme of an officer asking for that or even an officer asking to search my vehicle.

DO NOT SAY ANYTHING!!! If he asks to search your car or for you to get out, put your wrists on the wheel and calmly explain that you have a firearm in your car or on your person and then ask him what he wants you to do. That's what a Sheriff told me when I asked him anyway.

I'm no expert.

I don't volunteer anything. You are a law abiding citizen legally carrying, the officer has nothing to fear from you.

If he asks if I have a weapon in the car I am not sure what I would say. Hasn't happened. Probably "Yes, I am a law abiding citizen legally carrying. Please run my driver license and issue me my citation." If he doesn't like that response. Then "Am I being detained? Am I free to go?".

If asked to exit the vehicle, lock the car and put the keys in your pocket. Leaving the door open is just asking him to look inside. If open then maybe he will see something he thinks is "probable cause". Move slowly and be respectful. Again though, it hasn't happened and I am no expert.

Oh I also carry a digital voice recorder in my car for emergencies. I would likely turn it on when he turns on the flashing blue lights.

First thing that comes out of my mouth is, " There is a firearm on board". They're not the Gestapo, guys. If they find out you have one and you DIDN'T say something, it's a worse situation. Never once had I EVER had a LEO say anything negative about me holding a firearm in my vehicle, one even complemented my sig.

I was taught to always show the police you CCL then your DL as that's the law in Texas (if you don't and they see a gun or you pop up in the computer as a license holder...expect an unpleasant experience). Every cop except one has actually thanked me and twice I was told they didn't even need to see my DL (here in Ga). I'm all for protection of privacy, but surprising a cop with a gun is a bad idea in my book.

I think it should be up to the officers discretion, if they do not ask then you don't need to worry about it. If they ask then show it to them and be polite about it. Paranoia against LEO is just going to give them suspicion that you are doing something illegal and then they have the go ahead and the law on their side to ask to search your vehicle.
