In addition to the obvious with these programs, I hate to think about some nice old heirloom types potentially out of profound ignorance, getting bought up by some government weasel and destroyed. Imagine the horror of seeing a 1950's Sweet 16, or an old LC Smith double, or Colt Detective going to the scrap heap. In my opinion that's destroying American history. Although I concede that most will be junk and many will be hot.
