64 gr or a little heavier Barnes. I’m a firm believer that Barnes made the .223 a deer caliber.
Funny story- a buddy bought an AR and wanted to kill a deer with it. We sighted in at 100 yds and I gave him a bunch of 64 gr TSX reloads. The following Saturday night he sent me pics of 9 does he...
I work with a bunch of guys- about half of them hunt. Most of them work in the field and are super busy- I sit on my ass all day in the office so my time off is flexible.
Love my job and co-workers by the way- couldn’t ask for anything better.
Seen 2 - 2.5 yrs olds chasing in Wilkes Co.
Vacation starts today! Told them bastards at work that I’d see em after the rut.
To my beautiful wife: Happy 27th Anniversary!! I’ll be home 1.5 hrs after dark unless I get a big one.
Be safe and good luck.
Seeing these kids with smiles is priceless!
Making memories that’ll last forever.
My 13 yr old little girl had a friend over last night so I’m all by myself this morning.
Old group from a burnt out Savage 12 - all my fault by not cleaning it properly on a prairie dog shoot.
We managed to get most of the guys over and zero'd in. 223's, 243, 270, 308's, 30-06's, 300 Win's, 300 WHBY's, 300 RUM's - only one 300 Win Sako remaining. Got those RUM's set 2.4" high at...
I agree that the 6.5 is a fine round - like any other caliber it needs a good bullet. The 4 guys that I heard complain were all using the ELD bullets. Personally I would use Barnes or SST’s.
I’ve heard it called the 6.5 Crymore because of the lost deer. I don’t have one (a few buddies had them) but if I did- I’d only run a max load of Barnes through it.
I've always had good luck with the 240 gr. Hornady XTP's. Basically any 200-240 gr JHP or JSP will work for deer and hogs. Buffalo Bore and Underwood make some hot stuff if you're looking for a little more punch.
