  1. What is this? Thanks for the replies

What would a reloaded use it for, primer pocket depth, or…?
  2. Public Service Announcements: Primers are little dollops of High Explosives!

:yell: Now listen to Mommy so Tommy doesn't get his butt hurt! If all this stuff is sooooo bad, why did Grandpa & Grandma live past the age of 40? Just don't be stupid about stuff and you'll be fine (like casting in the basement). As for the 22's, (I know you're joking, but we have some...
  3. Bullets loaded backwards.

Would the pressure be greater to move a plug of a certain weight out of a closed system the length of a rifle barrel? Does the shape of the rear of the bullet have any effect before the bullet leaves the barrel? Would it be any different than a wadcutter?
  4. New Cabelas

Drove past on I-75 about 2pm. I'm not waiting in line more than 5 minutes for anything. I found the ethanol free gas at the Velero on Glade Rd just outside of Acworth. I think it was less than $4 a gallon.
  5. Casting: Any lead pouring peeps here?

Peeps make good targets. One of these days I'd like to get back into reloading, but I am concerned about my remaining brain cells. Does anybody know: Can an individual using a pot and dipper get the same consistency as commercial casters, and is the cost of casting using a known...
  6. lyman 450 cleaning

Your wife is gonna be torqued when your kids come out all autistic from eating those cookies. ;)
  7. Reloading range pick up?

Use common sense and examine the cases for signs of weakness and over pressure. Trim to length. If it splits, throw it out. (Personally, I look at cleaning brass as a cosmetic luxury.)
  8. Gunpowder Shelf Life

What, the manufacturer may know more about their product than a bunch of quasi-literate internet commandos he doesn't know from Adam?
  9. Gunpowder Shelf Life

Can you get MSDS from 20 years ago and compare? Are they available?
  10. Gunpowder Shelf Life

What ever happened to the idea of Taggants? To stir the pot a bit, how many products, besides Coke, have the same exact recipe from decade to decade? Isn't it plausible that to improve performance, or decrease production costs, a component with a shorter shelf life could have been...
  11. 10mm??? Who needs it when you have .40

Has anybody seen any non-jacketed commercially loaded autoloader ammo lately? I never heard anything about plated ammo being a problem though. I've never seen any that have been fired, does the process strip the plating?
  12. 10mm??? Who needs it when you have .40

Have you ever seen a Glock for sale with only the aftermarket or a mismatched barrel? Or maybe a full out Frankenstein? If you do, it's normally OK, but if you have accuracy issues, look at the corner of the ejection port. I saw an old barrel in a salesman's parts kit where you could see a...
  13. 10mm??? Who needs it when you have .40

    Yea, wanna buy a bridge?
  14. 10mm??? Who needs it when you have .40

Isn't that a bit much for lead, even with a gas check. Especially with that factory barrel.
  15. Started building a bench yesterday

Make sure you get a hood for casting; your progeny will benefit from it.:grey:
  16. Started building a bench yesterday

Just use it. When you find out the shortcomings use this one for your tumbler, trimmer and a place to keep your stuff and make your next one to fit your new Dillon setup.
  17. Lead bullets in ruger P85 & P90, SW3913 and SA XD40SC ?????

Standard rifling: lead is OK Polygonal rifling: leads easier, causing pressure buildup and potential catastrophic issues. Lead hardness and velocity also affects leading in all barrels. Are you talking semi-wadcutters, or full wadcutters? Semi-wadcutters will feed easier.
  18. Is it possible to reload .45 using large pistol "magnum" primers?

Why not swap them off? I understand them not taking them back. I've seen stuff people return that wasn't what they were given. I've also seen people at gun shows selling boxes of their old carry ammo.
  19. Am I crazy?

How's availability of components right now? I thought about buying some brass the other day, but they didn't have any primers or bullets, and I didn't recognize either of the powders they had.
  20. Am I crazy?

How much brass, primers, powder, lead etc do you have on hand? We may all be shooting slingshots in a few years. Could be a valuable resource. Years ago, I had an RCBS Partner, a basic bolt down Lee and a Turret press. Used the basic Lee the most. After the chaos cools, I'll be looking for...
