In my 16.25" encore barrel I got 1" groups with blc2 over a 168 gr Barnes. Anything lighter just didn't wNt to group.

I am using Superformance powder under 139 gr hornadys. I am getting .4" groups at 100 yards and over 3100 fps.
  3. "Best Of" when testing shots?

When you are testing your loads for accuracy, do you take a "Best Of" when calculating MOA? Like take 5 shots and calculate MOA for the best 3 of 5, or 5 of 7, etc to account for flyers or human error.
  4. How many rounds to test a load

That pretty much sums it up. How many 3 or 5 shot groups should you take to test a load? I was thinking 2-4 five shot groups so load basically boxes of 20.
  5. Newbie questions

No, the Birchwood is brass case cleaner, not lube. I have the Lee lube that came with the kit. I am not using anything out of its marketed use. But while on that subject, do you lube the neck of the case as well? I have seen differing information online. Some say don't lube the neck, some...
  6. Newbie questions

Is the lube just for the resizing part? I am going to do the liquid Birchwood Casey cleaner and I am thinking the process is: Lube, Deprime/Resize, clean, trim, chamfer, prime, charge, seat bullet, and crimp. Also is Crimping needed on all .308 rounds or just ones that have the groove for it...

  8. curious about reloaders

I have my equipment and I am about to start as soon as I get my supplies. I decided to do it because every time I go to buy good hunting ammo it costs me $40 a box and for less money I can make some ammo dialed in for my rifle. Three boxes of ammo at that price is as much as the equipment you...

Thought I would revive this one rather than starting a new thread. Now that I have my kit, I have a couple really elementary questions. - Do you de-prime before or after tumbling? - I have the Lee Cutter and Lock Stud that came with the kit, but can't figure out how to attach a shell holder...

  12. .308 Long Range/Hunting Bullet choice

I remember at one point seeing a chart with optimum and maximum bullet weights for different twist rates. I need to track that down and print it.
  13. .308 Long Range/Hunting Bullet choice

I just picked up a Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308 with a 1:12 twist and 20" barrel that I am going to be using primarily for hunting, but also going to try my hand at long range target shooting. I am going to start handloading in the next few months and wanted to get advise on the best weight...

  17. Newbie questions

Sorry for the newbie questions, I just have a couple quick questions. I am thinking of trying my hand at reloading 308. I am trying to keep the questions short and concise so I don't get a "try Google" answer :) 1. Basic list of required equipment: Press, dies, etc. 2. Good starter press...
