Building a tank for pressurized hydrogen isn't that difficult. But that aside, the infrastructure for storing and distributing hydrogen is even more primitive and undeveloped than for EVs. Building it out will be even more costly.
Also, building a vehicle that is robust enough to stay intact...
Y'all do realize that water vapor is itself a 'greenhouse gas'?
Might as well go full hydrazine if you want a car loaded with a ridiculously explosive fuel.
Like a lot of modern technology, Full EVs at the moment are basically tax-subsidized toys.
The only things they do well are already done well by ICE vehicles. Take away the tax subsidies (and the free use of the roads that ICE drivers are paying for) and they're revealed as a vanity possession...
Let's be "reasonable" and imagine there are some breakthroughs in battery technology in the immediate future that means we don't have a vehicle where over 50% of the unladen weight of the vehicle is battery made out of currently-scarce resources.
A successful vehicle is still schlepping around...
Far too many of you guys mistake a solid set of objections to a technology to Luddism.
EVs are a niche market with a very restricted set of use cases because current technology and infrastructure are a limiting factor.
They'll stay a niche market until gubmint dictates that we all have to...
Especially if he's at the north end of town - I've used these guys a few times.

If...

I've found them very fair when it comes to maintaining a couple of Hondas and a Subaru we own.
But as others have said, oil for a 2009 Mazda is cheap. If you have to put a quart in every month...
You only get energy out if you put it in. I was going to say that what you're proposing is effectively 'perpetual motion', and then you explicitly propose that might be one solution.
Hybrids use technologies such as regenerative braking already. If you gather energy from 'wind' when you're...
Being part scots, and therefore really cheap, just thinking about truck prices makes my balls retract. My wife runs the household budget - and is damn good at it - and she said to me last week "we really should get a truck now we're in Georgia".
Nope.
