The blade is a kit I bought. I had to dremel out the antler so as to make the tang fit. The curvature of the antler actually feels good and natural in the hand. I made it for my son. Gonna be one of his Christmas presents.
I am going to use epoxy to secure the grip to the tang. Any suggestions...
Who is a good company to order supplies from. Such as blades brass pins etc.
I have seen stuff in Atlanta cutlery and smokey Mtn. But wanted to see about some quality stuff. I want to make a jeep sake for son since he loves knives.
Thanks
Thanks for the info fellas. These vest are old police issue. Our dept does not throw them away. So we take en home and make stuff with them or use them in training. I probably have ten panels. Each panel has roughly 18 layers. So I have quite a bit.
Actually I was dye the Kevlar green and tey to bind between the layers. I wanted to surface to be soft if possible. Nylon look with the strength of Kevlar. I was going to epoxy the sheets together and place black eyelets around the edges in a couple places for strength and paracord attachment.
I have plenty and can make it as thick as needed. From what I have seen people have used epoxy in between layers for strength. I have ten or twelve old ballistic vests so I have plenty to make it thick.
I was just curious if any of you custom knife makers use Kevlar for sheaths or handles.
I have a ton laying around and thought abôut making a knife for my son and a custom sheath out of Kevlar for a xmas present and keepsake.
If so what do you use to bond your kevlar together? Looking for...
