I really hope this is the correct place to ask. I'm coming to seek the great knowledge of the ODT. I have inherited what looks to be a ceremonial blade that was associated with the Knights of Columbus. I'm not to familiar with the Knights of Columbus.
Now the back story: My grandfather found this buried in the sand in Myrtle Beach, SC between 1940 and 1944. He found it while walking the beach there. He never really stated whether he thought it washed ashore or if it was physically placed there by someone. Ever since then it has been kept in a wood gun cabinet and almost forgot about until we found it and it was wrapped in a box with my name written on it.
I'm going to post some pictures. I'm really looking to see if anyone knows anything about it. Like if this would have been the correct time period he spoke of and if there could ever be a value put on something like this. I took it to a friend of a friend that knew a guy that knew another guy that was suppose to be a knife guru. He just kept saying its worth big bucks and kept offering to buy it, but couldn't tell me any of the history of it. I googled the Knights of Columbus and the knights head seems to match the one on my grandfathers. I know this is a shot in the dark, but I just would like to know a little something of the sword.
Please do not ask to buy. It means more to me as belonging to my grandfather than your money. Thank you for respecting this.
