BB gun at 6.
.22 rifles under dad's close supervision at a family friend's farm at maybe age 10.
From age 7-9 my dad would occasionally let me fire a few shots of a 22 rifle or .22 pistol when he was shooting at the range and I was tagging along, but I did not get any real serious instruction...
I used to do a nylon fanny pack with a Kel-Tec P32 (these days it would be the .380 version) in the big main compartment, and my phone, my D/L and credit cards and GWL, and my car key, in the smaller compartment.
(I'd leave the rest of my fat, bulky wallet locked in my car).
Everything in that...
With the standard 4-round mag, it's purely a hunting gun.
But put an aftermarket 10-round mag in it, and add some camo tape or a gun sock to hide the glossy "LOOK AT ME: I"M SO BEAUTIFUL" finish, then you have something you can use for tactical work, too.
OP, your current collection is lacking a full-power rifle suitable for big game hunting past 150 yards,
and for the role of "sniper / countersniper / squad designated marksman" with a hard-hitting bullet that still hits hard and breaks stuff and kills big animals at several hundred yards.
So...
If it doesn't come with a remote-wired pressure switch, see if you can buy that separately, usually by replacing the end cap / tail cap for the flashlight. Being able to activate the light while keeping your hands on the normal firing grip on the gun's stock or fore-end is critical, I think.
This 20 gauge pump
has a cheap ($60 back a dozen years ago)
light, LED, with something like four or five different lighting and flashing modes.
It's also got a red laser and you can make the laser come on separately from, or along with, the flashlight.
I like it.
It was made to clamp on the...
DAO might be good for a novice for reasons that have nothing to do with second strike capability, but rather a longer and heavier trigger pull which can prevent accidental discharges under stress
(by a person who is poorly trained or not trained at all in weapons handling.)
I have 3/8" thick AR500 STEEL plates and I've hit them with a bunch of .308, .243 Win (100 grain SP)
and 7.62 x 54R from 100 and 200 yds.
That is certainly NOT an "AR 500" plate.
Looks like regular construction and fabrication grade steel a welding shop might have on hand.
After 30 years of only having single-barrel, single shot AND PUMP shotguns,
a few years ago I decided to get EITHER a semi-auto or an over-under,
only for sporting purposes, and not even big game hunting either (no use of slugs or buckshot).
My budget was $400 to $500.
I decided to get a...
I'd give three-hunnert an' fitty dollars for it.
Considering that despite the chambering in .30-06,
a fine deer hunting round,
I'd have to get it drilled and tapped for a Simmons scope,
and spray-paint the whole thing a special camo pattern of my own design,
using leaves and grass from my own...
740 / 7400 are semi auto versions which have a reputation of being Jam-O-Matics. So they may only be worth $300-$400.
The 760 / 7600 Gamemaster are the pump action versions which have a much better reputation for reliability,
although people don't seem to be impressed with their benchrest...
What's the point of the video?
I don't feel like watching movies.
Do you have an answer to the question?
( and the question is primarily about guns, not about cartridges / calibers.)
