There may be some misunderstanding in how I'm using the term 'stock'. The part that has been cut down is the fore-end of the stock.
The rear end of the stock - I agree - hasn't been changed.
This is an earlier model than yours, but this is what an unmodified Lee Enfield looks like:
It was quite common to shorten the stock (not the barrel) with these when imported and resold because the standard firearm is very heavy to lug around. It'll still shoot great and accuracy should be...
The gun may be all original, but the stock has been sawn down to 'sporterize' the rifle and make it lighter to carry.
Some people refer to this kind of change as having been 'bubba'ed'. It usually has little effect on how well the gun functions, but some people prefer the original set-up.
I'm not sure I understand who 'they' are that you're talking about.
All I can say is that even seeing places with any large rifle primers in stock - let alone large rifle magnum primers - is unusual at the moment. And with supplies so hard to get, yeah - you're going to see ridiculous prices.
Well, the 'new' Marlin company hasn't released them yet, but they're claiming "Early 2024" so y'all might get lucky in a few weeks time.
I can't remember if Marlin were selling them chambered in 30-30 before Remington went bust, but I can't see any of them used anywhere out in public.
Best bet...
As a noob reloader, I'd finding it hard to figure out what powders are just sort-of unavailable at the moment, and which are to all intents, gone for good.
Trail Boss and Universal Clays and a couple of others have been gone so long, I'm wondering whether realistically, they're ever going to...
I was talking to a guy last week about the powder biz, and he said he's been looking (quite actively, on and off) for Trail Boss for the last 5 or 6 years with no luck, so y'all might have to rely on some rip Van Winkle reloader who's sitting on a pallet of 2lb jugs :)
If you want a Kydex one built custom for you, https://gearcraftholsters.com/ are based up in Jasper, so you'd be supporting a local business. Unlikely it'd be in the $30 range though.
There are a couple of different shades of blue that Glock and their distributors offer. Frankly, I'd take a look on the dreaded gunbroker.com and see what's out there.
Is the purple rubber band included in the deal?
Beautiful gun. I have a similar one, except it has the Vertec grip.
Come on buyers. Snap it up. It's a great deal.
