Once you start putting debris in the bin mix some chicken manure in to get it started. Chicken manure is high in nitrogen and phosphorus and it will kick start the decomposition process especially in the Spring before the sun heats it up.
Picked some squash, tomatoes, bell peppers and one 5 gallon bucket and two baskets of green beans (gave one to the mail lady) this morning. The pumpkins are getting big and the sweet and red potatoes are growing well. Going to start canning the green beans this evening.
